Garhbeta 3

As IMAP has been running a livelihood programme with the support of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal at Chandrakona I and extended the same at Garhbeta III with the help of DRDC, Paschim Medinipur & Garhbeta III Panchayat Samity, we felt that a grassroots level health care system is required to promote the concept of Comprehensive Community Development . This service is more than a necessity for this area, which is predominantly inhabited by the SC, ST & Tribal population living below the poverty line. That is why we launched the second unit of Arogya at Uriasai, in Garhbeta III Dev. Block in 2010.

This new centre of Arogya is serving more than 15000 people of the 30 villages under the Uriasai Gram Panchayat. The centre operates thrice a week with an average daily patient turnout of 60. As usual, medicines are distributed free of cost and the ECG and the primary sugar testing are done at a subsidised rate while major pathological tests are arranged with the help of the Chandrakona Rural Hospital.

As the Livelihood Programme of IMAP are on full swing in the Chandrakona I and Garhbeta III Blocks, the medical service of Arogya is totally at par with the concept of Comprehensive Community Development. The poor underprivileged residents of these areas have now become aware as to when they should consult a physician and not wait for any miracle, magic or fate.

From the detailed analysis of the data received from the patients, we have seen that, the root cause of majority of diseases is the use of impure drinking water. Our doctors and the staff take special initiative to make the people aware of the importance of safe drinking water. To protect the local inhabitants safe drinking water are also distributed in time of summer. Moreover for serving the rural poor a new wing of homeopathy has been contemplated.

To keep up with the standard of service, The Ambulance facility is also introduced here to carry ailing patients to the nearest hospital at a minimum cost and in most cases with no cost.
