Women in Action

Women In Action

Underprivileged women in rural India are always a priority for IMAP, especially tribal women.  Thanks to our social system, which hardly allows any social security for women and girls. Economic freedom is a well-known foundation for women's empowerment. However, it is difficult to practice. Tribal women are more vulnerable as they have few options.
Over the past 15 years, these women have worked with us to develop different projects. Through this association, IMAP gradually identified the underlying causes of their insecurities. It has taken several steps to assist them through many initiatives.

IMAP Initiatives

In today's socio-economic structure of tribal societies, women have no control over their financial future. Women are hardly considered empowered because the community lives permanently below the poverty line. These women's scepticism toward any changes was evident as soon as we met them. To help them overcome this mental barrier to accepting the novel, we first gave them some training on different subjects. The goal of this training was to integrate them into the labour market and make them aware of their strengths.

Mutual Assistance

Their absence in the revenue-earning process is the primary cause of their suffering. Once inside, they made a few mistakes but were eventually able to stand up, thanks to their buried strength. They realize that they possess more power than any man and are not inferior to him. They've been used in every farming practice. They demonstrated their excellence from the delicate work of nursery-making to the laborious fieldwork, plantations, and harvesting. They have shown a keen interest even in field management and marketing,

The story does not end here. The economic freedom they earned through these activities has brought a sea change to their lives and economies. They established a local market in Jhargram and began banking operations. They learned the value of eating wholesome foods and seeing a doctor when necessary. They join mainstream society after leading an isolated life.  This power transformed the fallow lands into green valleys. These women become the flesh and blood of our every effort to eradicate the aridity of the soil.  We have instilled in them a dream so that they can imagine and shape their future. That was and continues to be the essence of development.
