Work Profile

Livelihood  Programme

Introduced training and implementation of fallow and barren land reclamation using a new concept of Cultivation.  The primary focus was on the fallow lands of Paschim Medinipur and Jhargram in West Bengal. We have been attempting to implement organic farming on 400 acres of fallow land in Jharkhand. The total fallow land under this program is already more than 150 acres, with Tribal BPL Population and SHGs involved. To support this endeavour, a Rural Laboratory and a Tissue Culture Laboratory have been established at Gopiballavpur 1 Dev. Block in Paschim Medinipur.

Training  in  New  Technologies

The Trust believes that using modern technologies is the most cost-effective way to develop skilled human resources. Given the scarcity of experts in remote areas, training and orientation for poor tribal farmers and villagers have been organized using audio-visual and video-conferencing. These pieces of training are designed to teach participants how to produce alternative agricultural products from fallow lands that require little investment and yield a high return. Four such Training Centres were established under the auspices of WB Biotech Development Corporation Ltd in the districts of Paschim Medinipur, Purulia, Burdwan, and South 24 Parganas.

Subsidized  Ambulance  and   Free  Medical  Services

Since 2005, the organization has adopted 45 remote villages in Chandrakona I, followed by 20 villages in Garhbeta III and ten villages in Gopiballavpur 1 Dev. Block in Paschim Medinipur, providing free primary medical services to over one lakh people with registered doctors. In addition, we work regularly to raise Medical Awareness among remote rural people to promote better and healthier living.  The organization has its building and ambulance, distributes medicine for free, and has introduced ECG and Sugar Testing facilities.   Serving as the referral unit to Chandrakona Rural Hospital.

Convergence  Programme

The MNREGA and National Rural Livelihood Mission's (NRLM) convergence program aims to raise awareness and generate demand, identify and plan projects that complement livelihood plans, carry out and evaluate worksite activities, and pay NREGA workers in advance using funds delegated to CBOs. It also offers capacity building. The goal of NRLM is to launch a multifaceted assault on the various facets of poverty practically. By guaranteeing 100 days of employment, the MNREGS seeks to increase livelihood security. IMAP and Lok Kalyan Parishad assessed the potential of this convergence in the Jhargram District.

Medicinal  Plant  Cultivation

Since 2008, we have worked very hard to reclaim unused land and introduce numerous new crops to various areas.  After this endeavour, we are developing the idea of growing medicinal plants in fallow fields at Garhbeta III in the Paschim Medinipur District. The medicinal plant was chosen to turn a barren field into something useful in response to a national call for growing medicinal plants to reduce the demand for medicinal herbs. 500 marginalized SC women are a part of this project, which teaches them how to find alternative sources of income.  .
